Best Trends and Styles to try this Summer

We are always so exciting at the start of each new season !! We love seeing what our favourite brands are doing, pouring through Fashion Week show images, and seeing which trends the big chain stores incorporate into their collections.

While the summer weather is ever so slowly warming up, the summer season styles hit the stores months ago! But it’s not always easy to think summer shopping and trying new trends when the weather isn’t on your side. So we have been waiting patiently (well a little impatiently) for the sun to start shining so we can share with you the trends that we love and give you new ideas and inspiration coming into the festive period.

There were quite a few common trends shown across runways during Fashion Month, which is always a good sign you will see these looks filter into stores. Aside from stunning floral prints and the bright bold pops of colour, sheer details, crop tops, and denim have all been taking centre stage.

These are our favourite summer styles & tips to wear them!

Statement Denim

No it’s not really a new trend, but the amount of designers who sent denim down the runway made it a favourite. The looks included patchwork, oversized boyfriend fits, a laid back boho vibe and a lot of darker washes. There are also the classic staples, think skinny jeans, white denim and the trusty denim jacket … The best thing about denim, everyone can wear it !!

Floral Prints

Florals and summer go hand in hand, it’s a common summer trend, and this season is no different. There are bold psychedelic prints, 3D floral embellishments, pacific style and tropical florals. So take your pick, nothing will make it feel more like summer than a little flower power!

A rainbow of pretty and sweet pastels have arrived and these candy colours will create a romantic and feminine vibe. You don’t have to be a girly girl to try this trend. Colour blocking pastels will create a simple and sophisticated look, or make your pastel pop by adding it to a neutral outfit. If you want to try top to toe pastel clash textures, and keep the shade varied.

Crop Tops

The crop top is more for the brave, and isn’t a trend for everyone. However this seasons choices are more sophisticated and sporty than 90s Spice Girl. Expose just a tiny amount of midriff and pair with a high waisted trouser or skirt. Pair with a tailored blazer or bomber to create a sportier vibe, and give you a little extra coverage.

Midi Skirts

The Tea length skirt is the most feminine shape for the season, and the perfect canvas for summer prints. You will see them in bold blooms, the pastel palette and solid stripes. The midi is traditionally a more lady like length, but it doesn’t have to equal frumpy. Make sure you nip in your waist as this cut can be tough on the figure and adding a heel will un-frump anything.

Gingham is on its way, and yes your first thought might be picnic tables! But fear not this print has been given a make over. Gingham has a timeless style, think Bridget Bardot or Jacqueline Kennedy. What we love about gingham is it’s a classic in black and white, but there are plenty of options with these little checks. Try gingham in blue or a pink, a floaty and flirty dress for a feminine silhouette, or go tailored in matching separates for a 60s feel.
