The Kate Effect

I’m a little bit excited – actually really excited! – to see what Kate Middleton will wear on the upcoming royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.

The Kate Effect – Steal her Style

I’m sure baby George is just gorgeous, but honestly all I’m interested in are the clothes. It has been reported that Kate is likely to wear four dresses a day during the three and a half week trip, so just who will she be wearing? It is expected to she will stay loyal to her usual British designers McQueen, Jenny Packham, Alice Temperley and also add to the mix a few High St pieces. As she did on her tour of Canada and the US in 2011, it is hoped she will also choose to wear some New Zealand and Australian designers. Fashion New Zealand will have its fingers crossed for the “Kate Effect” –the term used to describe the effect that Kate has on the fashion industry. This proves that anything Kate wears creates a frenzy among women to get their hands on her outfit, and has boosted the U.K. economy by an estimated $1 billion dollars.

“Kate is going to be scrutinised from head to toe,” designer David Emanuel, who managed Princess Diana’s wardrobe on her overseas tours, told The Mail.

“We take for granted how good she looks but it’s a lot of work. You need to think about the national colours of the country, its flag and emblems and how to reflect that in the clothes you wear. It takes weeks of research and Kate is going to need quality couture for the trip.”
